Hiiling is a proposal for the new central block situated in the urban focal point of North Verkkosaari, Helsinki. The central block plays an important role in shaping the urban identity of the new city district and aims to be an example for building the Helsinki of tomorrow. The plan will be the greenest residential block in Finland, technically and economically reproducible and thus helping a paradigm shift bigger than its size in the building industry. For new buildings in the urbanizing world, the established concepts of green and sustainable are not sufficient, the level of ambition needs to be even higher. We want to work towards a regenerative way of building that heals both the environment and communities.
